Technical experience is often a screening requirement and AI is becoming very prominent however, strong Emotional Intelligence can be a true differentiator.

2024: A Year In Charts | McKinsey

This is an interesting snapshot by McKinsey of key issues in 2024. AI, talent markets, global economy, sustainability, equity, and health. One chart was particularly interesting. “Women continue to confront microaggressions in the workplace as often today as several years ago.” These were the areas:

  • Any competence-based microaggression
  • Having judgment questioned in area of expertise
  • Being mistaken for someone at a much lower level
  • Being interrupted or spoken over more than others

Study: 88 Percent of High-Performing Women Get Critiqued on Their Personalities in Performance Reviews | Inc.

Then this article popped up in a discussion on LinkedIn. “88 percent of high-performing women receive feedback on their personality during performance reviews — compared with 12 percent of high-performing men” according to a study by Textio. The main point of this article is to eliminate personality traits from ALL performance reviews and replace them with real, documented feedback on their behaviors which will actually help them perform better.


306 Ohio State Employees Just Lost Their Pay Raises. It Could Happen to You | The Job Hopper

Never mess with employees’ paychecks! “The Ohio State University gave 306 employees raises to move their pay above the overtime threshold on Nov. 1, only to revoke those raises a few weeks later after the court decision.” Here’s what you need to know, in most of the United States, companies can take back a pay raise for any reason they want, as long as they’re not discriminating against you. (Montana is the only state where this isn’t allowed.).
